ABSTRACT

Today 26th of April 2023 The Department had the privilege to host students from Karima Girls High School who had visited for educational purposes. The students learned both theory and practicals in the following areas:-            1. Animal feed and feed formulation

                       2. Analysis of animal feeds

                       3. Poultry Keeping 

                       4. Rabbitry 

It's almost the end of the semester when students are tested on what they have learned during the lecturer session. This is Year 3 BSc. Agriculture (Animal Major students) taking their examination today. 

Master Students on Educational Trip at KALRO Naivasha to learn more on Animal Nutrition. 

The 4th Year BSc.Fisheries and Aquaculture Management Out-going class took a photo with the Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Chairman of Department Prof J. Maina with their lecturers Dr. R.C. Bette and CMs. C. Onura after their last examination on Wednesday 17/05/2023 after intensive training of four years.

Dr. Lance O’Brien(CSARIDE Project Coordinator), Kahsay Negash(CSARIDE Project Manager), Prof Woldeamlak Araia- Dean, Hamelmalo Agricultural College visited the University of Nairobi, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to follow up on the progress of the Eritrea students who are doing various Master program. They Met the Dean, Faculty of Vet Medicine Prof. D. Mande, Dr. R. C Bett(Co-ordinator of Eritrea Students), Prof C. K Gachuiri(Animal Nutrition), Dr. Onono(Chairman Pharmacology, Public Health, and Toxicology Dept).

MSc.Student Mr.Habtom Laine Okubazghi from Eritrea who is taking MSc. in Animal Nutrition carrying out laboratory tests for his research project entitled: Evaluation of Biomass Yield and Silage quality of maize- cowpea intercrops in the highlands of Eritrea.  

Field Trip To Farmers Fresh Feed at Kenol by 4th Year BSc. Agriculture(Animal Major) on Friday 12th May, 2023 where they learned practically about Ration Formulation and feed manufacturing which is a unit in their course of study. The students had been accompanied by their Lecturers Prof. C.K. Gachuiri and Prof. R. Wahome.
