Master Students on Educational Trip at KALRO Naivasha to learn more on Animal Nutrition. 

The 4th Year BSc.Fisheries and Aquaculture Management Out-going class took a photo with the Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Chairman of Department Prof J. Maina with their lecturers Dr. R.C. Bette and CMs. C. Onura after their last examination on Wednesday 17/05/2023 after intensive training of four years.

Dr. Lance O’Brien(CSARIDE Project Coordinator), Kahsay Negash(CSARIDE Project Manager), Prof Woldeamlak Araia- Dean, Hamelmalo Agricultural College visited the University of Nairobi, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to follow up on the progress of the Eritrea students who are doing various Master program. They Met the Dean, Faculty of Vet Medicine Prof. D. Mande, Dr. R. C Bett(Co-ordinator of Eritrea Students), Prof C. K Gachuiri(Animal Nutrition), Dr. Onono(Chairman Pharmacology, Public Health, and Toxicology Dept).

MSc.Student Mr.Habtom Laine Okubazghi from Eritrea who is taking MSc. in Animal Nutrition carrying out laboratory tests for his research project entitled: Evaluation of Biomass Yield and Silage quality of maize- cowpea intercrops in the highlands of Eritrea.  

Field Trip To Farmers Fresh Feed at Kenol by 4th Year BSc. Agriculture(Animal Major) on Friday 12th May, 2023 where they learned practically about Ration Formulation and feed manufacturing which is a unit in their course of study. The students had been accompanied by their Lecturers Prof. C.K. Gachuiri and Prof. R. Wahome. 

The Department of Animal Production has the following products for sale starting today Monday 15th May, 2023.

1. Broilers @ 250/- per Kg Live weight.
2. Indigenous chicks 2-8 weeks(Price depends on age)
3. Cockerels @1500/-
4. Rabitts @ 1600/-

On Friday 31st March 2022 Form Four Agriculture Students paid a visit to the department. The students had the privilege to learn practical skills in feed Analysis, Poultry keeping, and Rabbitry units. 

The Netherlands East African Dairy Partnership (NEADAP) and ProDairy EA Ltd are collaborating to conduct a 5-day Masterclass on #Rumen8 at the Department of Animal Production, University of Nairobi, Upper Kabete campus, Nairobi. The course will run on 5 Saturdays, from March 18 to April 29, 2023. The Rumen8 tool assists farmers and consultants in managing the diets of dairy and beef cattle to improve nutrition, production, and cost-effectiveness.

The University of Nairobi will be hosting the president of Italy who will deliver a public Lecture on"Climate Change , a common challenge for Africa and Europe."
