Prof Kiama Inaugurated As University Of Nairobi’s 8th Vice Chancellor

Prof. Stephen Gitahi Kiama was on Friday officially installed as the eighth Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi,  taking over from Prof. Peter Mbithi.

During his installation at the Taifa Hall, Main Campus Prof. Kiama promised to institute reforms that will eradicate wastage of resources as well as uplift the Varsity’s financial status.

The ceremony that was witnessed by his three predecessors: Prof. Francis Gichaga, Prof. Crispus Kiamba and Prof. Peter Mbithi.

Three UoN staff have been recognized with Uzalendo Award

Wednesday, June 3, 2020 Three UoN staff have been recognized for their outstanding service in helping the country steer through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prof. Omu Anzala, Dr. Loice Achieng’ Ombajo and Dr. Marybeth Maritim were among the 68 kenyans who received the award.

The President recognized 68 Kenyans with the Presidential order of service,  Uzalendo award during the 57th Madaraka day ceremony.

The University of Nairobi will admit the highest number of candidates who scored grade A in last year’s KCSE

The University of Nairobi will admit the highest number of candidates who scored grade A in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), placement results released yesterday indicate.

It will admit 313 of the 630 top students, with Tonny Wabuko Buluma, who was the best student last year, joining the university to study Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.

In response to the negative effects of Covid-19 on teaching and learning, the University of Nairobi Senate approved guidelines and procedures for online examinations on 8 th May 2020. The Special Senate was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof.S.G.Kiama. The Senate relied on the provisions of Statutes- xxv that gives senate the mandate over all academic matters in the University.Read more
