Strategic Objectives

The Department is guided by the following principles to achieve its vision;

1. Skills Development

Ensure graduates have the skills and attitudes to render services to a thriving and modern livestock sector.

2. Knowledge Creation Through Basic and Applied Research

Carry out basic and Applied research to increase food productivity by participating and assisting individual researchers in the department, undergraduate and postgraduate students in their project and thesis research projects.

3. Teaching and Learning

Produce quality and holistic animal science graduates by ensuring all BVM, BSc wildlife, BSC agriculture (animal science major), BSc in fisheries and aquaculture, and diploma in animal health are trained in their relevant areas of specialization by the end of their training period as per the university calendar.

4. Community Engagement

Extend knowledge and skills to the farming communities for purposes of improving animal science and production.

5. Consultancy Services

Render consultancy services to both Public and Private sectors in matters relating to Animal Science and Production analyzing at least 200 feed samples from farmers, private firms, and the public sector.
