The University of Nairobi will host Mr. Bill Gates, the Microsoft founder and American businessman on Thursday 17 November 2022 in a town hall student engagement forum. The forum which will take place at the Chandaria Performing Arts Centre within the UoN tower will bring together students drawn from UoN and various African Universities. The engagement will focus on climate change, innovation and food security as well as innovative tools approaches to bolster efforts to increase food security and climate adaptation suppport across Africa.
Join us at this information session to learn about our mission, the work of Fund economists,
our recruitment programs, and available career opportunities. We are keen to meet
economics students who are interested in macroeconomics, even if you are specialized in
other areas.
Recruitment programs that we will discuss include:
Fund Internship Program (FIP), for current PhD students
Economist Program (EP), for students completing their PhD
The Mid-Career Program for Experienced Economists
National Association of Software and Services Companies of India (NASSCI).
The Vice-Chancellor, University of Nairobi, has appointed Prof. Joyce G. Maina to serve as chairman of the Department of Animal Production with effect from September 2022.
Prof. Maina is an accomplished member of staff with many years of teaching and research experience. This is in addition to supervision of postgraduate students, student mentorship, and outreach services.

The application process for the 2022 Krystle Kabare Scholarship is now open. The scholarship will award one Kenyan graduate student with disabilities a full academic scholarship to attend the University of Nairobi in September.
In line with the O3 plus programme implementation, 9 bod students from University of Nairobi and Mount Kenya University have decided to challenge the high altitudes of Mt. Kenya to create awareness on the importance of good health and well-being of young people. 7 of these students are from UoN. The students have gone through rigorous training with the ‘Outdoorer Hiking Academy’ through 6 preparatory hikes to ensure that they have prerequisite resilience to challenge Point Lenana, Mt. Kenya on 14th-17th July, 2022.
The Chief Guest, Associate Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Enterprise Prof. Margaret Hutchinson unveiled the Priority Agenda for Women Economic Empowerment and rallied the women delegates to take positions of leadership and decision making as well as be part of resource mobilization, distribution and utilization.
