UON HOSTS 46TH UNCTAD REGIONAL TRAINING COURSE
The Vice-Chancellor who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs (DVCAA), Prof Julius Ogeng’o, expressed his gratitude to UNCTAD for choosing the university to host the regional training since 2019.
UON AWARDED FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF M&E CURRICULUM
“UoN is the only University in Africa that teaches project planning from certificate to PhD level. The University through the Faculty of Business and Management Science has been supporting the government in monitoring and evaluation of projects which is among the frameworks that the National Government is using to weigh development even within the counties,” announced Prof. Charles Rambo.
KISWAHILI’S RENEWED CAMPAIGN BY AU AND UNESCO
The Kiswahili language has grown in Africa and beyond. The language has an estimated 200million speakers globally.
Due to its growth, it has had a lot of international recognition. At the beginning of the year, African Union (AU) declared the language an official working language. In addition, in November, UNESCO declared 7th July as World Kiswahili Language Day.
VARSITY SECURES USD 690,000 GRANT FOR SHARE PROJECT
The University of Nairobi (UoN) has secured a USD $690,000 research grant for the Supporting Holistic & Actionable Research in Education (SHARE) - Co-Creating for Change: Learning Becomes Service to Justice.
Faculty of Education dons, Prof. Hellen Inyega is the Principal Investigator (PI) SHARE and Prof. Justus Inyega is the Coordinator, SHARE.
UON AND ISRAEL UNIVERSITIES TO COLLABORATE
The ambassador noted that there is a need for more structured collaborations between UoN and Israeli universities. The Ambassador said he will spearhead the collaboration between the University of Nairobi and Israel Universities in various fields of mutual interest.
Medicine was one of the fields the ambassador noted the need to create more lasting collaborations.
