Committee charged with development of a communication strategy and preparation for community mobilization when the disaster strikes. 2) Member, Team that prepared the college’s strategic plan, June 2005. The college committed itself to finding means of financing foundational research to enable departments establish research direction. 3) Member, Team that prepared the Faculty of veterinary medicine’s strategic plan, November 2003. This Plan served as the basis for the FVM’s strategic plan 2005. My main concern was to strategise research such that the faculty and departments had research thrusts which could be used to guide future research. 4) Chairman, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine’s “Module II Policy and Guidelines committee” that produced the Wahome Report on the smooth running of module II programmes in the faculty. (2002 to date). 5) Member, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine’s committee on development of the “promotion criteria.” This criteria served as a basis for the college’s criteria. 6) Member, Faculty of veterinary medicine Visitation Committee that evaluated state of teaching and research facilities, prepared and presented a report to the Vice- Chancellor. 7) Member, Curriculum Committee (2000) that developed the Bachelor of Wildlife Management and Conservation; Wildlife and Wetlands Management; Wildlife and Fisheries Management as well as the review committee, 2004. It was largely by my insistence that this was achieved. 11) Member, Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture Faculties’ time-tabling committee (1990 - 1998). Participated in setting up of time tables in both faculties. 12) Member, Faculty of veterinary Medicine Committee for the organization of Clinical Practice for Veterinarians in the pre-clinical departments. 13) I organized purchase of books for the FVM through a donation from CTA as well as commonwealth veterinary association. More than 200 volumes of rare books were placed in University Library and departmental reading rooms. Past Responsibilities in the Department of Animal Production 1) Chairman, (2002, 2003) the committee that gave birth to the four new Master of Science degrees in the Department (Animal Nutrition, Poultry Science, Animal Genetics and Breeding and Livestock Production Systems) 2) Member, later Chairman, Computer subcommittee, later Computer Manager, charged with organization of use of computing facilities in the Department of Animal Production. Our department pioneered acquisition of desktop computers and was the centre of computing in the whole of Kabete Campus. This is no longer necessary as other departments have made great advances in bridging the digital divide. 3) Reading Room coordinator, Department of Animal Production, was responsible for the setting up and organizing a departmental reading room. I identified books and other reference material sources, catalogued them and placed them in the reading room. I also set up a system for lending reference material to staff and students. In that age which predates the internet I organized regular current contents-on-disk delivery to the Department. 4) Timetables Coordinator, Department of Animal Production, responsible for setting up of teaching schedules (1990 – 1998). My responsibility extended from participating in setting up of faculty of veterinary medicine and agriculture time-tables to setting teaching schedules for the departmental staff. The latter role has been taken over by course coordinators. 5) Seminars Coordinator, Department of Animal Production, responsible for organizing and scheduling seminars, 1996 – 2002. I was charged with identifying presenters and seminar topics.
